Rashad thaPoet is an activist, actor and award winning artist from Nashville, TN, dubbed by the hip-hop community as Nashville's "Common" or raps MLK. RTP a poet by trade has been a force in the spoken word community for over 10 years, with over 20,000 album sold since 2005. Spreading messages of hope, and being a "voice for the voiceless" he has continued to use his music as a driving force to effect change. His seemingly effortless transition to hip-hop became apparent in 2010 with his "Mashairi mixtape series. RTP was one of the first spoken word/hip hop artist in the city to have his own band, creating his own brand of organic hiphop. RTP has opened and shared the stage with artist such as Bilal, Robert Glasper, Saul Williams, Homeboy Sandman, Fantasia, Dwele, Adia Victoria and country duo Big and Rich to name a few.
RTP has become a master of weaving his insightful wordplay into any production.
His 15th album "Soulville" is an incredible collection of songs that range from freedom, to upbeat melodic songs like the first single "Tha Yeahs" feat. Classik Levine.
The single available 3/14 at all digital outlets, and the album is slated for release on March 31st.
